Child Passenger Safety
The Virginia: Hampton Roads Chapter of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners has been the recipient of numerous grants from the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles for the eduation of providers and caregivers in the appropriate ways to transport children. These grants have been for our programs Keeping our Pediatric Patients Safe (1998-2001), Nurses Make a Difference (2001-2004) and our most recent program Boost 'em or Belt 'em (2004-2005). With motor vehicle related deaths
being the leading cause of death of children, we feel that appropriate guidance is an important component of pediatric care. The Safety link below contains significant resources for answering many of the questions that parents and providers have about transporting children.
