Virginia: Hampton Roads Chapter
of the
National Association of Pediatric
Nurse Practitioners
The Chapter was founded in 1996 with a charter membership
of seventeen. Since that small beginning, over 170 healthcare
providers have enjoyed membership. The Chapter maintains approximately
65 active members each year.
The primary focus of the organization is
to provide continuing education activities for the membership. The
Chapter hosts a dinner/continuing education meeting on the third
Wednesday evening of even number months. This meeting is usually
free to members. On rare occasions, there may be a nominal
charge to offset the cost of the meal. Annually, the Chapter
hosts a continuing education conference. This event usually
occurs in the fall. Through this event and the dinners, all
continuing education requirements for certification as a pediatric
nurse practitioner may be met.

Katherine
S. Robeson Award
Annually, the Chapter presents the
Katherine S. Robeson Award to a nurse who has exhibited outstanding
leadership in the area of pediatric nursing. This award is
named for the first president of the chapter, whose tireless effort
and leadership made the Chapter a reality.
