The Virginia: Hampton Roads Chapter of NAPNAP is dedicated to serving infants, children, adolescents, young adults and parents in the Southeastern Virginia area by providing educational programs, networking opportunities and resources for pediatric health care professionals. The Chapter serves the geographic area of Southeastern Virginia known as Hampton Roads. The region includes nine cities, surrounding counties in Virginia from Williamsburg to Virginia Beach. The Chapter also serves the northeastern counties and cities of North Carolina and the Eastern Shore of Virginia. There is a strong military presence in the region with seventeen bases from all services.
The members of the chapter come from many types of practices including primary care, specialty practice and university faculty. Hampton University and Old Dominion University offer pediatric nurse practitioner programs. These programs compliment the one doctoral, two master, three baccalaureate, two associate, and two diploma nursing programs offered in the region. The region has one medical school, Eastern Virginia Medical School, that offers MD, PhD, MPH and PA programs. Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters is a free standing tertiary hospital serving children. Hampton University offers a research doctorate in family nursing as well as a doctorate in pharmacy. All of these resources provide our members a well supported environment in which to practice. Visit our sister chapter, the Virginia
